Former Harry Potter Star Emma Watson Banned from Driving After Speeding Violation

OXFORD, ENGLAND — British actress and activist Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months after a speeding violation, according to a report by CNN.

Watson, 35, was caught driving 38 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone in Oxford on the evening of July 31, 2024. She did not appear in court for the brief hearing, where she was fined approximately $1,400 and received additional penalty points on her license, triggering an automatic disqualification under UK traffic law.

Watson rose to global fame for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films and has since become known for her work in education, gender equality, and social justice. She has not issued a public statement regarding the ruling.
