Long Island Immigrant Justice Alliance, Delgado, and Local Leaders Unite to Challenge Nassau’s ICE Cooperation

Nassau County, NY- Today outside the Nassau County Executive Building, the Long Island Immigrant Justice Alliance led a powerful protest demanding an end to Nassau County’s cooperation with ICE. Community members, faith leaders, organizers, and immigrant families gathered to voice their concerns about local participation in federal immigration enforcement.

Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado attended the demonstration, standing with advocates and hearing firsthand how ICE involvement creates fear and instability for immigrant communities across Long Island.

Speakers emphasized the urgent need for New York State to pass the New York for All Act, legislation designed to prevent local police and county governments from entering 287(g) agreements — partnerships that allow local agencies to act as immigration enforcement on behalf of ICE. Advocates warned that Nassau’s past cooperation with ICE undermines trust, safety, and community relationships.

Chants and speeches echoed the central message:
“Pass New York for All — Stop 287(g) in New York.”
