Delegates Stage Mass Walkout During Israeli Prime Minister’s UN Speech
September 26, 2025 | New York, NY

In a dramatic display at the United Nations General Assembly today, scores of diplomats walked out as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the podium. The coordinated protest underscored growing global outrage over Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

According to eyewitness accounts, representatives from dozens of countries rose from their seats and exited the chamber the moment Netanyahu began his remarks. The walkout, which included delegations from across the Arab and Muslim world as well as several other nations, was one of the largest acts of collective dissent witnessed at this year’s UN gathering.

Netanyahu, undeterred by the emptying hall, pressed forward with his speech, declaring that Israel “must finish the job” against Hamas. He lashed out at Western governments for recognizing Palestinian statehood, accusing them of emboldening terrorism. He further warned that Israel’s campaign would continue until its objectives were met, vowing not to bow to international pressure.

The Israeli leader also claimed that his words were being broadcast directly into Gaza, promising citizens and hostages alike that Israel would not relent.

The mass walkout highlighted deep divisions at the United Nations over the war in Gaza. For many delegations, leaving the chamber was a symbolic rejection of what they view as Israel’s disregard for civilian suffering and international law.

With fighting intensifying and humanitarian conditions deteriorating, today’s episode is expected to sharpen diplomatic rifts and fuel debates in the days ahead about ceasefire proposals, accountability measures, and the role of global institutions in the crisis.

AMN will continue to monitor developments at the United Nations and across the Middle East as reactions to Netanyahu’s speech unfold.
