BREAKING: NY AG Letitia James Sues to Protect Public Services
New York- July 21, 2025- New York Attorney General Letitia James @newyorkstateag is leading a 21-state lawsuit to stop the federal government from cutting off essential services for low-income families — simply because of immigration status.
New federal rules now block access to:
• Community health centers
• Housing and shelter programs
• Food banks and school meals
• Mental health care
• Early childhood and adult education
Even U.S. citizens could lose services if they don’t have ID.
Letitia James said:
“This is a heartless and baseless attack. We will not let it stand.”
In New York alone, over 2.4 million people depend on these programs. Clinics could shut down. Families could go hungry. Parents could lose childcare. Survivors could be left without support.
This is not just about immigrants — this is about protecting our most vulnerable.
