NYS LT Governor Delgado Joins Demonstrators in Anti-ICE Rally at Islip Town Hall

Islip, NY – December 6th, 2025 — New York Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado joined a protest today organized by Islip Forward, where activists demanded that the Town of Islip end all cooperation with ICE and stop allowing federal immigration authorities to operate out of town facilities.

Meanwhile, directly across the street, the Town of Islip held its annual Christmas parade and holiday celebration, creating a jarring contrast between festive crowds and demonstrators calling for immigrant protections.

At one point, protestors noticed Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter attending the festivities and began chanting “Shame on you, Angie!”, criticizing town leadership for celebrating publicly while refusing to address concerns about ICE operations within the community.

Speakers emphasized that the town’s cooperation with ICE instills fear among immigrant families and undermines community trust. Delgado’s appearance signaled growing statewide scrutiny of local-ICE partnerships.

Organizers from Islip Forward say they will continue pressuring officials until the town ends ICE’s access to all municipal buildings, resources, and facilities.
